It is a program equipped for 1st to 5th graders. We teach them tactics to practice Spanish outside the classroom. All students new to Spanish will start at the first step (ground level) of the ladder. However, kids with a basic Spanish background can start at a higher level. They will be given an assessment test to place them on the appropriate step of the ladder.
Each session is about 60 minutes on-site. During this time, students are given Spanish worksheets to complete. When finished, an assigned tutor reviews the completed work together, answers any questions, and reviews the next assignment with them. For home practice, students will be given worksheets to complete at home. In their next session, they will bring them back and turn them in for review and grading.
Once they successfully complete all the worksheets required for the first step, then they will climb up to the next step of the ladder, and so on. Every time they climb up the ladder, they will be given a certificate of completion and earn reward points. These points can be redeemed for a wide array of gifts such as books, games, toys, etc.
To help students with hands-on practice, it is highly recommended for parents to encourage students to spend at least 10 minutes a day in watching shows, listening to music and/or reading books in Spanish. By doing so, it will not only help them identify words or phrases learned but also expand their vocabulary. Refer to our Resource Library online for links to sources.
